Single review by firstname.lastname@example.org
Following the release of their second album 'I'm Leaving' and the single 'Dancing Anymore' with it's very NSFW video, the Londoners serve up a different single in 'Lover's Cave', and the difference is so noticeable that you'd be forgiven for thinking it was two different bands. Oh, and the video for this has been banned by YouTube too, seems they're building a bit of a reputation in that respect. As we're a music site, we'll concentrate on that aspect above any gimmicks/artistic statements that Is Tropical may have in store for us.
Instead of the soulful, female-led previous effort, new single 'Lover's Cave' has a basis that's more in guitar-pop than anything else. It glistens with touches of electronics and the jagged edges of the guitar itself, but it's a lot rougher around the edges, almost grunge-like at times, but it never quite goes that far, as this is still a brilliant pop song at heart. The male vocals offer an obvious contrast to 'Dancing Anymore', but it's the music that marks the difference most. This track is filled with melody and is a joyous romp through the world of effervescent indie/pop.
