His new album 'Head In The Dirt' may not have had its UK release yet (it's set for September 2nd) but it is available on import for those who can't wait, and with the quality of the singles we've heard from him recently it sounds like a worthwhile investment. Hanni El Khatib had us momentarily fooled with this new video, as it appeared to be a recording of the crowd at a live performance. Which it was. However, after a few seconds the scene cuts from the exited fans to the studio version of the song in all its garage-rock splendour.
With The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach on production duties, the song is another high quality guitar-fest with sharp riffs, clattering drums and a good coating of rock 'n' roll melody over the top. With the standard of music Hanni El Khatib has been creating of late, along with friends in high places, it's a little surprising that he hasn't taken the garage world by storm just yet, but that could just be our view from here in the UK and that may change come release date. Judging by the amount of followers on his social media sites the US are already on the case, so it's us who are playing catch up..
