Yeah this is another track from Sonic Cathedral's 'Psych For Sore Eyes' compilation EP which has turned out to be a must-have purchase for psych fans everywhere. Even though physical copies are now difficult to come by, the recently released collection is available as a download from the usual sources (no, not torrents and Mediafire, Amazon and iTunes). This track comes from a band who are brand new to our sore eyes, Mexico's Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, and the label say it's possibly the most accessible track on the EP, but we'll leave you to be the judge of that. They do accurately describe it as being somewhere between The Breeders and The Jesus & Mary Chain, but with added acid.
So expect fuzz by the sackful, echoing, Spectorish percussion and muffled female vocals. It's pretty solid from start to finish and doesn't really pause for breath, that steady beat carrying on regardless of the jangly 60s psychedelic guitar that lights up the chorus. There's more to their wall of noise than the usual four-piece band coated in reverb, but due to the hazy nature of the production it's difficult to tell exactly what instruments are used, possibly some organ, or possibly just a load of different guitar pedals. It doesn't really matter. Distortion lovers everywhere can have little argument with this being a decent track.
