Pixie Carnation - Keep It Coming

You'd be well within your rights to assume that a Swedish band called Pixie Carnation would be the epitome of twee. Once more we learn that time-old lesson of not judging a book by its cover. The band compare their sound to Arcade Fire or The National (as does everyone else at the moment it seems), but they have a point. This is indie/alt-rock that's not short of ambition. Lo-fi indiepop shenanigans this is not; 'Keep It Coming' is something of an epic, full of determination and passion and strings that aren't just there for show. They enhance the song better by being more distant and not attempting to become the focus of attention.

If your web surfing has caused you to stumble upon this site on a few occasions, or maybe if you're a regular reader to our ramblings, you'll have noticed a bit of a resurgence in anthemic indie music of late, and we're not talking stadium-sized pomp, we're talking pure fighting spirit, bands wanting their music to sound grand and sweeping but without the artificial bombast that's applied like makeup with a trowel to certain groups' output. Pixie Carnation are not one of these, Pixie Carnation are one of the good bands in all of this, and this single is a totally guilt-free pleasure.
