Various Artists - Christmas Pimping, Everybody's Gimping (Charity Single)

Single review by Kevw

Round about this time of year half the music world hears the cash cow mooing away and decides it would be fun to release a half-arsed Christmas single. Which is why we don't feature them. The worst culprits of all are indie/alternative bands doing covers of Christmas "classics". Ugh. Stick Phil Spector's Christmas album on instead and piss off. But 'Christmas Pimping, Everybody's Gimping' is a little different from your usual charity Christmas fare. Firstly the track has been recorded in aid of a three year-old girl called Caoimhe who has a rare form of brain tumour that requires expensive treatment abroad, so buy this and you cash is being passed on to a very good cause.

Secondly, this collaboration between Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5, The Girobabies and The Plimptons is something akin to Goldie Lookin' Chain doing Band Aid, complete with studio filmed video. Of course with something of this nature there's a certain novelty factor and it's unlikely that you'll have it on repeat for months, but it's well worth the cash and deserves a good few plays to pick out some very witty lyrics which generally revolve around getting shitfaced over the festive period. We won't quote many lyrics here, check out the video and listen for yourself. If you like it then stump up the cash and buy it when it's released on Monday. If you don't like it? Donate anyway, the link is below. Altogether now "Cliff Richard is gonna pimp yo ass!"

The single is available on December 10th from iTunes
