Zulu Winter - We Should Be Swimming
It's quite remarkable to think that London five-piece Zulu Winter only formed last year and have already released their debut album, 'Language'. Sure, knocking together a few tunes is easy enough in that time, but not getting them to this level. 'We Should Be Swimming' is seductive and accomplished, anthemic and danceable. It's no wonder they're being tipped to go far.

I Can Chase Dragons! - Republique
Based in Boston, I Can Chase Dragons! is the solo project of Mexican Julio Gudino from the band The Plastics Revolution. On 'Republique' he's created a mist of experimental dreampop with drifting vocals, bouncy bass and a hotch-potch of different sounds and samples. The result is a quite beautiful explosion of sound that's complex and uplifting.

White Fence - King Of The Decade
Darker My Love's Tim Presley can't seem to stop releasing records at the moment, if you include his recent collaboration with TY Segall then 'Family Perfume Volume 2' is his third White Fence album since the beginning of April. Free track 'King Of The Decade' is a smoky, sixties-sounding acoustic jam that should appeal to fans of garage and psych-pop of the lo-fi variety.

Royal Teeth - Wild
New Orleans collective Royal Teeth released their 'Act Naturally' EP last year to little fanfare, before a signing to Dangerbird records and a triumphant turn at SXSW saw a feverish buzz begin to develop around them. Going on the strength of 'Wild' it's easy to see why. With a soaring chorus of "oohs" and "aahs" it seems they've found the formula for accessible guitar-pop perfection.

Young Lungs - Attack Of The Red Montana
Young Lungs are based in Montreal and have a new 7" single, 'Blood On The Streets', out this week. B-side 'Attack Of The Montana Red' should have been the lead track; combine punk energy and rock dynamics with a touch of surf and a giddy tempo and you have a winning formula. Warning: this trio shouldn't be confused with the numerous other bands with the same name who aren't as good...
