Five For Free #69

The Raveonettes - Into The Night

A few weeks ago we brought you the first song from our favourite Danes' forthcoming new EP 'Into The Night', and now they've made the title-track available for free download too. Set to be released on their own Raveonettes LTD label on April 24th, it's shaping up to be a corker, using the same great ingredients to make some of their finest songs yet.

Screaming Females - Expire

New Jersey fuzz-rock band Screaming Females have just released their fifth studio album 'Ugly' and are offering up this free track to give us a peek at what's included. 'Expire' is punky, raw and brawny with a vocal that means business. The trio sound hungry and self-assured here, like the best of the early 90s alt-rock bands with added bite.

White Denim - Get Back To The Love (Street Joy)

We can't have been the only ones to be a bit puzzled that fab, frazzled, garage rockers White Denim ditched the psych rock recently and decided to try and be Prince instead, but it seems a path that the Austin quartet are sticking to, borrowing some lyrics from R. Kelly (!?). On 'Get Back To The Love (Street Joy)' they've made the kind of slick jam that really shouldn't work, but oddly it kind of does. We're slowly being convinced.

Dive - How Long Have You Known?

We recently gave you 'Geist', a track from Dive, the side-project of Zachary Cole Smith from Brooklyn band Beach Fossils. Well now it's been announced that his debut album will released in June and is titled 'Oshin'. 'Geist' won't be featuring on the record, but the equally lovely, dreamy guitar-pop of 'How Long Have You Known?' will be the first single. Grab it below.

The Fresh & Onlys - Do What I Came To Do

Mexican Summer/Software Records have just put out a sampler called 'Stash Rituals' which features contributions from many of their artists. San Franciscan garage-pop band The Fresh & Onlys have given up new track 'Do What I Came To Do' for the compilation and it won't be appearing on forthcoming new album, so fans will need to get the sampler or pick up the song here.
